Minors

The Rural Sociology minor is administered by the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (RURLSOC-MN). It provides students with:

  • an understanding of sociological concepts important to the analysis of change in rural societies
  • an understanding of major social structural and cultural changes to rural societies
  • an understanding of the influence of social and cultural factors on rural and agricultural development, as well as the impact of development on rural groups, cultures and communities
  • opportunities to apply sociological concepts to specific case studies related to rural and agricultural development, population and natural/environmental issues
