CMRS Mini-Symposium: John Fletcher’s "The Faithful Shepherdess" in Context
The Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies presents a mini-symposium and keynote lecture reexamining the critical heritage and performance history of John Fletcher’s 1608 play The Faithful Shepherdess. As one of the most popular and successful playwrights of the English Renaissance, Fletcher succeeded Shakespeare as a principal playwright, jointly writing three plays with Shakespeare toward the end his career. The Faithful Shepherdess is notable for its presentation of casting, gender and institutional politics.Details
