Join the Humanities Institute for the second presentation of the South Asian Studies Initiative brown bag series. Rojika Sharma will present "Mapping South Asian Diaspora Aunties on Media: How do Aunties Curate, Sustain, and Transform Diaspora Identities?"
This project attempts to map the South Asian diaspora Aunty discourse on media platforms including YouTube, Memes, literature, podcasts, Netflix, and TEDx Talks. By exploring diaspora practices on media, this talk will examine how Aunty is a configuration or a figure that does various forms of meaning-making and discursive labor.
