Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

The Department of Classics studies and promotes the languages, literature, and cultures of Greece and Rome, focusing on Antiquity but including all periods from the Bronze Age to Modern Greece. This study is important, as the origins of western and much Near Eastern literature, philosophy, art, religion, and social forms lay in the ancient world.

“The Modern Greek Program is very active in Central Ohio’s Greek community and helps organize the annual Greek Festival at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral.”

{Benjamin Acosta-Hughes, Professor, Department of Classics}
