A joint offering by the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering's Center for Aviation Studies, the air transportation major provides students a unique opportunity to study how aviation and the air transportation industry are affected by social forces such as the economy, international relations and politics. Students in air transportation routinely work and take courses at The Ohio State University Airport, one of the premier university airports in the country. 

Why choose air transportation?

Air transportation is an interdisciplinary field in which students complete a variety of courses from disciplines such as global geography and transportation, political science, economics, international studies, psychology and sociology. While it is not required in order to complete the major, air transportation students have the opportunity to earn flight ratings toward the Center for Aviation Studies Professional Pilot Certification through the center's FAR Part 141 certified professional flight education curriculum.  

What can you do with this degree?

The sky is the limit with a degree in air transportation. Students will prepare to find employment in the airline industry as flight dispatchers, flight attendants, airport operation planners, air traffic controllers, safety inspectors, airline schedulers, national transportation safety board accident investigators and airport directors.
