Lonnie Thompson and Ellen Mosley-Thompson are among the most revered paleoclimatologists on Earth, and their careers at Ohio State have grown in tandem with humans’ understanding of climate change. Paramount for them now is ensuring future scientists are prepared for this vital work.

Global May Korea: Opportunities abroad

Each May Buckeyes explore Korea's cities, industries, cultural heritage, environmental policies and green growth strategies through readings, site visits, and lectures by local scholars, administrators, and corporate managers.

In addition to hands-on learning, students on the Global May Korea program are paired with Korean students at Kyung Hee University for cultural exchanges and collaborative activities. Students are also assigned to visit the home of a local Korean family.

Student explores ecology impacts in Norway through Ohio State global research program

Participation in the research program was made possible through Ohio State’s TRONDBUSS program. The Department of Molecular Genetics created TRONDBUSS within its Students in Life Sciences Abroad (STILSA) program, which supports paid and credit-earning international research internships in collaboration with NTNU, Sorbonne Université and Paris Saclay Université in France and recently extended to University of French West Indies. STILSA has now partnered with ASC Career Success to offer global experiential learning not only in academia but also in non-academic settings (e.g. private sector companies).

The summer geology Field Camp run by the School of Earth Sciences at The Ohio State University has operated for over 75 years!  Our Field Geology course is a ‘capstone’ experience for our geology majors, providing a unique environment for field-based research experiences for students and faculty.
