Tales from the Central Pacific

The Big10 Network's new video features highlights of an unforgettable journey eight undergraduate students, their teachers and 12 World War II veterans made back in March.

History Professors Peter Hahn and Peter Mansoor took undergraduate students: Caitlin Bentley, Nick Brill, Andrew Eskander, Danielle Gagliardi, Peter Marzalik, Kyle Nappi, Mike Tabor, and Eston Wirsing, on an eight-day study abroad tour like no other.

Each student and professor accompanied a veteran returning to the site of battles they fought on the islands of Guam, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima.

The veterans shared their personal stories with their Ohio State student companions. Those stories are documented at: ascatosu.tumblr.com

The tour was in cooperation with the Greatest Generations Foundation, which provides commemorative tours for veterans. The students' trip was supported by the College of Arts and Sciences and The Mershon Center for International Security Studies.
