On Thursday, August 11, the College of Arts and Sciences hosted its first-ever Biotech Summit in partnership with BioOhio and Mix Talent, to forge connections with industry leaders. Ohio’s biotech industry is thriving, and the college is a powerhouse of diverse research, innovation, and creators of new knowledge.

With faculty who can collaborate on groundbreaking research, innovative business models, and workforce development; and students who will graduate with specialized knowledge and skills in the industry, the college is uniquely positioned to be an engaged and dynamic industry partner.

The one-day summit created an opportunity to discuss how the college can best address the needs specific to the biotechnology industry as it relates to talent acquisition, workforce development, and education. Participants also learned about avenues to promote their brand across Ohio State’s campus.

Susan Olesik, Dean of Natural and Mathematical Sciences at the College of Arts and Sciences, is instrumental in leveraging significant industry partnerships for the college and was integral to the launch of the Biotech Summit. “Forging these new partnerships is exhilarating and the results will shape our college and students for generations to come. These are truly exciting times,” Olesik said.
