Koritha Mitchell Honored with Congressional Recognition

Koritha Mitchell, associate professor, English, was honored -- and surprised -- with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition following her March 14 invited lecture at the Library of Congress. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee presented the honor to Mitchell, who admits to being literally speechless. The certificate says, "On behalf of the constituents of the Eighteenth Congressional District of Texas, I take great pride in congratulating you for your outstanding book Living with Lynching: African American Lynching Plays, Performance, and Citizenship... You deserve the respect, admiration and commendation of the United States Congress."

C-Span's Book TV recorded Mitchell's lecture there. It airs Sunday, March 30, at 11 p.m.
